I make prints because
I never grew up.
When I use a grease crayon on a lithograph stone, I’m still drawing on
the sidewalk;
as I peek at a new etching on the press bed,
I’m opening a present.
Wood feels warm and part of my hand.
In printmaking, my love of drawing and tools merge into varied techniques.
Now these skills are second nature. |
Proofing is unique to printmaking;
a ghost of the past remains.
With the past in front of me,
visual decisions are more reflective,
incorporating the past with future changes.
I draw on proofs, change the orientation of
the image and stretch the initial print as far as it can go.
